Dr. Penny received her Bachelor and Masters degrees from Western Kentucky University and her doctorate from Vanderbilt University.   She has served thirty-three (33) years in education as an elementary and middle school teacher, Assistant Principal of Warren East Middle School, Principal of Bowling Green Junior High School, Curriculum Director and Assistant Superintendent in Simpson County, Director/Team Leader for Region Two Service Center and Director of Primary Education for the state of Kentucky and Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at Austin Peay State University.  From these varied venues, Dr. Penny has learned the art of providing quality service to multiple stakeholders. 

She married her amazing husband, Eddie B. Copas, from Simpson County in 1994.  Together they have three children and four grandchildren.  Dr. Penny enjoys travel and working in her garden.  She is a member of the First Christian Church but has been known to frequent her husband's Methodist denomination.
